The Verlinde Cranes &Hoists dealer service network has been expanded with the addition of designated dealers for the Steelpoort area, in Limpopo, and for Namibia.

The South Africa-based company, which distributes Verlinde overhead cranes and hoists from France, now has dealers in most of South Africa’s provinces and in all the major neighbouring countries.

Verlinde Cranes & Hoists recently appointed Expert Mining Solutions as the designated dealer for Namibia, where Pirtek Steelpoort, which Expert Mining Solutions owns, will represent Verlinde Cranes & Hoists in Limpopo.

“It is an exciting time to be part of both companies, we look forward to being part of their business growth,” comments Verlinde Cranes & Hoists MD Warren Shankland.

Expert Mining Solutions also represents Verlinde Cranes & Hoists in Mpumalanga. Other local dealers include EBJ Construction in the Free State, Jynco Hydraulic World in the North West and Dezzo Equipment in the Northern Cape.

In the rest of Africa, Verlinde Cranes & Hoists is represented by EBJ Construction in Botswana, and Kromona Investments in Zimbabwe.

Negotiations are under way to penetrate other African territories.

Meanwhile, Verlinde Cranes & Hoists will return to Electra Mining Africa this year, showcasing some new additions to its catalogue. Some familiar and popular hoists and light lifting equipment will be on display, as well as the new Eurobloc VM, Eurochain VR, Stagemaker SR and the Eurolift BH.

Taking centre stage will be the newcomer to the Eurobloc range of electric wire rope hoists – the Eurobloc VM. This budget wire rope hoist is designed specifically for a crane kit, bearing a load from 2 000 kg to 12 500 kg and it is suitable for high performance in difficult environments.

Conception and simplicity in the design of the Eurobloc VM reduces the ‘C’ approach data of the hook by reducing the lateral motion of the hook when lifting. Load is shared easily by improving the position of the steering rollers and thereby improving the tracks.

The Eurobloc VM also features some additional savings, including two travelling and hoisting speed aids to better production processes, while maintenance is simplified through easy access to the electric cubicle. The modular design is intended to reduce the number of spare parts required for the hoist.

A new Eurochain VR electronic chain hoist will also make its debut at the exhibition, having been relaunched this year with a simplified shape. The update in design allows for an enhanced upgrading of the product offering – these are included in the Eurochain VR2, VR5 and VR12. New options include a short headroom trolley and IP 66 protection, with the product improvements allowing for the size of the hoist to be reduced by 30%.

The Eurolift BH (a belt hoist), is a new entry to the Southern African market. This hoist is designed for various customised applications across a multitude of industries. It is currently favoured by the food, chemicals and precision industries and is suited to any industry where hygiene and safety are important. The belt is flame- retardant, maintains strength after being immersed in boiling water and withstands attacks by acid. It is also immune to attack by solvents and is rotproof.
