The Ukwazi Group of companies is a medium-sized mining industry consultancy based in Centurion, Gauteng province. The word Ukwazi means “knowledge” and aptly describes the nature of its business.

Since 2004, it has delivered consulting services to a large client base, including AngloGold Ashanti, Anglo Platinum, BHP Billiton, De Beers, Eland Platinum, Exxaro, Impala, Katanga Mining, Kumba Iron Ore, Lonmin, Ridge Mining and Teal Exploration & Mining.

The company is managed and wholly owned by its consultants, who use their comprehensive industry knowledge and impartiality in delivering service to a broad range of mining companies of varying size and level of business maturity.

Its mission is to be the respected supplier of choice for high-value, auditable mining engineering and specialist consulting services.

As an independent consultant, Ukwazi can provide optimal solutions to the client, without any risk of providing a solution with an inherent conflict of interest. The strategy is to form part of the owner’s team to define and protect the owner’s interest within its area of influence and control.

Its ongoing efforts to develop talent and create an organisation in which each member can be innovative, ensures teamwork where knowledge and experience are shared.

The company’s ethics guide it to provide an honest, transparent and fair working environment. Of utmost importance, is customer excitement whereby it delivers responsive client care and communicates openly. In addition, it ensures the financial sustainability of its business and that of its clients.

Its most valuable assets are its employees, its capital and its reputation. Its staff reflect a high level of investment in intellectual capital, complemented by the specialist software applications and industry relevant methodologies in which it has invested.

The company has a strong strategic focus on organisational competencies, which is an important source of competitive advantage.

Because so many of its clients have an international presence, it enjoys a growing footprint into other parts of Africa.

Ukwazi has established itself as a respected, relevant company and a popular mining engineering consultancy through appointing leading minds, understanding and deploying cutting edge technology, and applying proven, world-acclaimed methodologies.
