Global pumps manufacturers Weir, Xylem and Kirloskar have been ranked as the top three global pumps manufacturers, in a survey conducted by industry analysis company Timetric.

The survey, carried out by Timetric’s Mining Intelligence Cente (MIC) at the end of last year,r involved over 630 mine managers and senior decision-makers across more than 500 global mines nominating leading manufacturers of different types of mining equipment, including pumps and submersibles.

More than 50 nominees were put forward in the pumps division, with Weir Minerals taking 24% of the 240 votes and being named the leading manufacturer of mining pumps, dewatering pumps and submersibles. Xylem received 14% of the votes and Kirloskar 9%.

Timetric says the results show the strength of the Weir Minerals brand in penetrating the global market, with the company receiving more than 20% of the votes on each continent. Xylem, however, received the most votes in Latin America and Kirloskar was the leading manufacturer in Asia and Africa.

“Conditions in mining industries around the world remain challenging, as the fall in commodity prices has far-ranging impacts that will continue to weaken the unit sales of new mining pumps. “However, there are opportunities for growth with the demand for replacement pumps, a bigger focus on recycling and reusing water, and investments made [in] productivity improvements,” says Timetric senior mining analyst Nez Guevara.

Australian pumps manufacturer AllightSykes and global pumps manufacturer KSB took fourth and fifth places respectively in the survey.
