Industrial equipment supplier Actum Group supplies manufacturing and solutions company Band-It’s range of quality-engineered band and fastening products to the local market.

“The importance of using high-quality products is critical for any industry or application,” says Actum Band-It team leader Matthew Campbell, elaborating that Band-It products are designed to offer solutions to the most challenging, mission-critical applications.

Unlike other joining methods, such as threaded fasteners, spot welds, tack welds, rivets or nails, Band-It clamps spread their clamping force out across the full perimeter or contact area of the items that they are joining. This allows for the joint to be formed without alteration of the items being joined.

The benefits of using stainless steel fasteners include flexibility, in terms of permanent and adjustable clamping solutions, and their being corrosion resistant. The fasteners are nonintrusive; therefore, no welding or drilling is required, and surfaces are not damaged if the clamp is removed.

“Band-It stainless steel ties have a good resistance to fresh water and ultraviolet rays, as well as mild to extreme environments. The ties offer smooth inside diameters, while the low-profile options make the ties ideal for cable bundling,” explains Campbell.

Further, the company’s bands and buckles are available in different sizes and widths, with a clean appearance and good resistance to oxidation. The bands and buckles provide “superior corrosion resistance”, owing to their being nonmagnetic, and are also used in fibre-optic cable roll-outs in the telecoms industry to attach brackets onto polls where the cable is strung.

Band-It’s adjustable, rack-and-pinion clamping systems can be used with a band to create a clamp of any size.

The company offers a variety of stainless steel grades – most commonly 304, 201 and 316 – with speciality grade available on request for subsea or highly corrosive environments.

Band-It also offers coated stainless steel options which increase corrosion resistance and life span.

Moreover, Band-It products are used extensively in the solar industry.

Actum Group recently supplied Band-It Ball-Lok cable ties for use at one of the largest solar installations in South Africa. The cable ties proved to be effective and an easy to install cable management solutions.

Band-It’s Ultra-Lok system has also been used effectively to secure cables to alleviate cable theft.
