Specialty chemicals company Evonik participated at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) held earlier this month, from November 11 to 14 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

In a statement released ahead of the event Evonik Middle East and Africa regional president Hendrik Schoenfelder commented, “we are participating at ADIPEC for the second year in a row because we believe we have many solutions that can help the regional oil and gas industry to achieve production goals more efficiently.”

He added that, “for us, ADIPEC presents a great platform to connect with the most important regional stakeholders and promote our technologies”.

Schoenfelder stated that Evonik was proud to showcase its innovative solutions and broad range of products to the region.

“We help to unlock reservoir potential, protect asset life and enhance production and throughput for the oil and gas industry,” Evonik oil and gas team head John Wey added.

Wey explained that, two products that are new to the Middle East region are Evonik’s high performance polymer membranes and specialty methacrylate monomers, both under the VISIOMER brand.

Further, Schoenfelder noted that VISIOMER products act as the building blocks to make resins in multiple areas including fluid loss agents, shale control, hydrate inhibitors, viscosifiers, drag reducers and water clarifiers.

In this product group Evonik offers unique services and expertise based on the company’s broad monomer portfolio, global network, research and development support and tailormade solutions.

Evonik’s membranes are used for gas separation and offer an efficient solution owing to its lower installation-, operating- and maintenance costs.

He notes that, SEPURAN NG is an especially robust, hollow-fibre membrane, which is based on a high performance polymer that can withstand extreme pressure and temperatures.

The membrane features a stable performance even in the presence of hydrogen sulphide, water or higher hydrocarbon concentrations.

Additionally, the Germany-based specialty chemicals company will showcase COPI, which provides benefits in flow assurance and storage as it prevents the formation of wax crystals in oil.

Other highlighted products are the VESTAMID NRG, which can be used in flexible pipes for both pressure barrier liners and outer sheaths in gas pipes, as well as  in applications involving reinforced thermoplastic pipes, composite pipes, and as liners for internal steel pipe protection against corrosion and rehabilitation.

The VESTAMID NRG pipes are easy to process, install and weld. They are compatible with multiphase fluids, such as water, oil and gases, including sour gases, Schoenfelder concludes.
