To be successful in the quarrying industry, customers need equipment that gives their business an edge over the competition, says mining solutions provider Metso UK distribution manager Steve Clarke.

“Metso offers crushing solutions that provide exceptional productivity combined with a finished product that suits the exact needs of today’s aggregates industry,” he states.

The company’s official UK distributor plant and machinery hiring company Garriock Bros showcased Metso’s Lokotrack plant series in June at the UK’s Hillhead 2016 exhibition at the Hillhead quarry, in Buxton, Derbyshire.

“Hillhead offered us a great opportunity to present Metso’s solutions and demonstrate the expertise we both have in the aggregates business. Over the last [few] years, we have invested a lot in facilities, tools and people to ensure that our customers continuously get value from us. That is what we wanted to demonstrate at Hillhead,” says Garriock MD George Garriock.

Metso’s Lokotrack LT106 and LT120 mobile jaw crushing plants, the LT300HP mobile cone crushing plant and the LT1213 mobile impact crushing plant were on display at the event.

The Lokotrack LT106 is equipped with the Nordberg C106 jaw crusher and offers features such as a radial side conveyor, high inertia flywheels and the Metso IC process control system, which uses an ultrasonic material-level sensor. This enables the crusher to offer the best capacity and cost efficiency in the 40 t size class, says Metso, adding that the crusher’s compact dimensions and agility on tracks further reduce transport costs between crushing sites and on site.

The Lokotrack LT120 mobile jaw crushing plant guarantees outstanding performance and premium-quality Metso parts ensure a reliable solution. The LT300HP mobile cone crushing plant is equipped with the proven Nordberg HP300 cone crusher and, according to Metso, is the most efficient and flexible secondary and tertiary crushing plant on the market that can be transported from site to site as a single unit.

The LT1213 mobile impact crushing plant completed the list of crusher models on show at Garriock’s Hillhead stand. It features innovations such as a radial side conveyor, hydraulic locking on the long main conveyor and feed hopper walls. The LT1213 can be fine-tuned for aggregates, quarrying or recycling applications using additions such as a vibrating grizzly or pan feeder under the crusher. The diesel engine drives crushing power, while high-quality blow bars put the final touches on performance.

Metso serves customers in the mining, aggregates, recycling, oil and gas, pulp and paper, and process industries, offering products, systems, project delivery and services. Large-scale project deliveries are typical for the mining industry, whereas its offering to the aggregates and oil and gas industries mainly consists of supplying individual equipment and smaller product packages. The company supplies the South African market through its branch in Johannesburg.
