South African vacuum and pressure equipment filters and spares supplier Air & Vacuum Technologies recommends its representee Price Pumps’ T15 and T20 air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps for applications in the harsh African mining industry.

The company, based in Midrand, Gauteng, notes that the T15 AODD pump is fully interchangeable with another market-leading brand, which is not disclosed, and also shares identical dimensions and interchangeable spare parts. However, the same does not apply to the T20 pump, which has a 102 mm inlet and outlet, and easily accessed ball valves in case of blockages.

Further, the T20 AODD pump has a maximum flow rate of 1 041 ℓ/min. Its body is made from solid cast ductile iron – while the valve balls and seats are composed of neoprene, the diaphragms from hytrel, the centre block from polypropylene and the air valve from brass.

The top five industries that use AODD pumps are the mining, petrochemicals, printing and ink, construction and food and beverage industries. Each of these industries uses AODD pumps for moving different fluids, from thin solvents to harsher materials like sludge mixed with sand.

In many industrial plants, transferring fluids is an essential and routine part of day-to-day operations. Therefore, the reliability and performance of the AODD pump will have a large impact on the overall productivity of a plant.
