Name: Shahuindo mine.

Location: The mine is located in the district of Cachachi, in the province of Cajabamba, department and region of Cajamarca, in Peru.

Controlling Company: Pan American Silver and Tahoe Resources completed a transaction in February 2019 whereby Pan American acquired all of the issued and outstanding shares of Tahoe.

Brief Description: Shahuindo is an openpit, heap-leach gold mine, with an estimated life-of-mine to 2028.

Brief History: Tahoe acquired the Shahuindo property in April 2015, as part of its acquisition of Rio Alto Mining. The company started construction of the mine in the same year and reached commercial production in May 2016.

In February 2019, Pan American Silver acquired all the issued and outstanding shares of Tahoe Resources.

Products: Gold/silver.

Geology/Mineralisation: The Shahuindo deposit is located on the eastern flank of the Andean Western Cordillera, in northern Peru, within a regional fold and thrust belt of predominantly sedimentary rocks. The region is particularly well endowed, with mineral occurences varying from low to high sulphidation systems, from porphyry to polymetallic to epithermal deposits.

Mineralisation at Shahuindo is best described as an intermediate-sulphidation epithermal system, although high-sulphidation mineralisation occurs at depth and in the core of the hydrothermal breccias. Oxidation of mineralisation extends to 150 m below surface. In the weathered oxide facies, gold and silver are associated with the presence of jarosite and hematite. In the underlying fresh sulphide facies, gold is typically extremely fine grained with the related mineral species not yet defined.

The principal zone of mineralisation occurs in a belt between the Algamarca and San Jose anticlines.

Structure and lithology control the location, shape and orientation of the mineralisation. The mineralisation is hosted within the siliciclastic sandstone-dominant Farrat formation and the underlying sedimentary Carhuaz formation. These sedimentary rocks have been intruded by at least three felsic stocks that tend to be located along faults and cores of anticlinal structures. In addition, the metallurgical recovery of gold is affected by lithology, with the identification of five primary geometallurgical domains based on the relationship between lithology and grain size and gold recovery.

Reserves: Total proven and probable reserves as at January 1, 2018, were estimated at 127.8-million tonnes grading 0.46 g/t gold and 6 g/t silver.

Resources: Total measure and indicated resources as at January 1, 2019, were estimated at 156.7-million tonnes grading 0.45 g/t gold and 6 g/t silver. Inferred resources were estimated at 110.8-million tonnes grading 0.7 g/t gold and 13 g/t silver.

Mining Method: Shahuindo is an openpit mine using conventional drill/blast, shovel and dump truck operations with heap leach processing.

Major Infrastructure and Equipment: The mine includes a crushing and agglomeration circuit and an upsized mining fleet.

Prospects: Tahoe completed the expansion of the Shahuindo crushing and agglomeration circuit to 36 000 t/d at the end of 2018, with the waste dump and water treatment facilities expected to be completed in 2019.
