Software development company Umbani Software is returning to Electra Mining Africa with its established software solutions, as well as new features to its flagship safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) integration system, says the Gauteng-based organisation’s CEO, Tim Horn.

SHEQsys assists companies to control and coordinate various actions to comply with various standards and requirements, by providing users with information on dashboards, scheduled reports and modules, which can be integrated or used on a standalone basis.

“SHEQsys has a wide selection of tools that can be enabled and administrated by users with the access roles to do so, that gives the system its robust and powerful take on SHEQ administration, simplifying complex tasks for the end-user.

“SHEQsys is wizard driven and user friendly and has been proven by many of our clients to cut administration of SHEQ tasks substantially, giving them more time to concentrate on other aspects of their functions and be proactive rather than reactive,” Horn states.

Existing SHEQsys clients can be found in various industries, ranging from the manufacturing of refining equipment for mines, packaging, logistics and speciality gases.

“Our clients benefit from new features and continuous improvement to existing functionality as part of their subscription. We are proud to be returning with SHEQsys to Electra this year with our additional mobile applications,” he says.

Umbani will also be showcasing its maintenance management software system, MTsys, which allows for effective maintenance control with integrated overall equipment effectiveness, overall asset effectiveness and total equipment effectiveness performance.

Horn explains that with MTsys, maintenance managers can provide an efficiently managed maintenance function by reducing unplanned downtime, improving staff performance, better controlling of the spare parts inventory and producing detailed cost, productivity and efficiency reports.

“MTsys has excellent reporting capabilities, offering financial as well as productivity reporting functionality, with graphical representation of the results.”

MTsys supports scheduled, predictive, preventive and breakdown maintenance, allowing the user to set specific intervals for specific operations and having a computer generate job cards and warning reports. The system comes standard with various job card formats, which can be amended and added to, depending on client requirements.

The company’s development team is situated in South Africa, with its support and services extending world- wide, offering full Bespoke (customised) Software solutions with the slogan of “What Solution can we write for you?”.

The company states that it has a track record of providing fast, efficient software solutions to its clients on a variety of platforms and is fully scalable to meet a client’s requirements.

Umbani’s Software services cover multiple platforms, including Windows, Web and Mobile.

“We see the world moving more into the Web and mobile solution environment, with increased reliance on cloud hosting of complex applications to disseminate and analyse data in real time. Our software solutions allow for effective reaction to events and business intelligence reporting on fresh data for a more predictive, and proactive response to changing situations, compared with the traditional reactive response,” Horn says.
