Pneumatic tool manufacturer Chicago Pneumatic reports that it has introduced a new line of heavy rig-mounted breakers to its RX range, which includes the RX26, RX30, RX38, RX46 and RX54.

The new range features a service weight from 1 800 kg to 4 200 kg fitting carriers with weights ranging from 20 t to 70 t, making the breakers ideal for heavy demolition, rock excavation and mining applications. All five models feature the same new features and improvements.

“The most exciting new feature of the RX breakers is the PowerControl Plus valve,” Chicago Pneumatic rig-mounted breakers product manager Gordon Hambach notes.

“This valve enables the operator to adjust the operation mode of the breaker to the application. Its combined stroke length and start-up mode-switching valve allows the operator to change operation mode in the field without opening the hydraulic circuit.

“The PowerStop Plus mode will also switch the breaker to high impact energy with normal impact rate while the EasyPower Plus mode sets the breaker to high impact rate with normal impact energy.”

Additional improvements to the new line include a reinforced breaker box design with rock claws, which assists in manipu- lating the target material for effective breaking.

Common RX Range Features

The RX breakers now also carry a Power Boost feature, which has been designed to achieve greater breaking performance in tough applications, without requiring additional hydraulic input. The breakers’ enhanced percussive performance is achieved by reusing the recoil energy.

As with all breakers in the RX series, the new line also features the energy efficient gas and/or oil hybrid technology and an internal control valve for increased efficiency.

The RX line also features advanced noise and vibration damping technology. With the RX recoil absorbing system and insulated breaker boxes, the RX series of breakers are some of the quietest breakers on the market.

CP-Lube is an automatic breaker-mounted lubrication system for extended life of the bushing and working tool and is available as optional equipment for the RX heavy range.

Hand-Held Breakers

Chicago Pneumatic tools product manager Jan Ohlson reports that the company has this year launched two new hand-held pneumatic breakers – the CP 1260 and CP 1290 – which offer more power and a sleeker, more ergonomic look. The company’s previous models, which included the CP 1230 and CP 1240, have loaned many of their features to the new CP 1260 and CP 1290; however, the new breakers also offer a streamlined, flatter profile for improved operator visibility and new, durable poly- urethane front-head springs that reduce wear and extend the life of the breaker and its components.
