Diamond miner De Beers sold $660-million of rough diamonds during its first sales cycle of the year.

“As anticipated, there was strong growth in consumer demand for diamond jewellery over the end-of-year holiday season.

“As a result, we saw the continuation of robust rough diamond demand in the first sales cycle of the year as buyers focus on restocking depleted inventories,” says CEO Bruce Cleaver.

Sales were in line with the $663-million of rough diamonds sold during the first sales cycle of 2021 and higher than the $336-million of diamonds sold during the tenth and final sales cycle of last year.
