Prospect signs offtake at Arcadia
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Lithium developer Prospect Resources has inked a long-term offtake agreement with Belgium-based Sibelco for ultralow iron petalite production from the Arcadia lithium project, in Zimbabwe.
The offtake agreement will span seven years and will cover 100 000 t/y of high quality, ultralow iron petalite concentrate, resulting in up to 700 000 t over the life of the contract.
Prospect MD Sam Hosack on Friday said that Sibelco is the largest distributor of ultralow iron petalite in Europe, and that Prospect believed the offtake agreement was the largest of its kind ever signed.
“Once in production, Prospect is expected to be the largest ultralow iron petalite producer in the world,” Hosack added.
Over a mine life of 15 years, Arcadia is expected to produce 2.4-million tonnes a year of lithium.
