The three-day Joburg 2013 Investing in Resources and Mining in Africa conference attracted the who’s who of South African mining and helped the local mining industry to take many more strides towards returning the sector to an engine of economic growth for the country. At the forefront of the introduction of modern-day digital innovations, including immediate response-card voting on a host of important topics, was the conference chairperson, Bernard Swanepoel, above, who added considerable panache to the proceedings that brought new cohesion to the important sector.
