PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Emerging lithium development company Piedmont Lithium has increased its foothold in North Carolina, acquiring a further 188 acres from local landowners.

The company currently holds some 903 acres within the Carolina tin spodumene belt, with the ASX-listed company aiming to consolidate landholding in the region between its newly optioned and historical landholdings.

“These strategic land acquisitions are on-trend and should enable us to grow mineral resource over time, ultimately leading to greater throughput and a longer mine life,” said Piedmont president and CEO Keith Phillips.

He noted that the latest agreements increased the company’s landholding in the Caroline tin/spodumene belt by over 26%, adding that Piedmont was also in discussions with several other landholders to further consolidate its position in the region.
