PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Energy major Origin Energy has expressed concern about Russian involvement in its Beetaloo Basin joint venture partner Falcon Oil & Gas, amid the current conflicts.

Origin this week told shareholders that it had expressed its concerns to Falcon regarding one of that company’s own shareholders, Lamesa Holdings.

While Origin assured shareholders that it had no direct contact with Lamesa or any of the other Falcon shareholders, or that these investors had any influence over the company’s activities in the Beetaloo basin, Origin said that it would continue to monitor the situation closely, and would adhere to rules set by the Australian government, or other governments as appropriate, with respect to sanctions that may be put in place.

Meanwhile, the company has welcomed the announcement by Falcon that Russian businessman Maxim Mayorets has agreed to step down from the Falcon board effective immediately.
