Crushing and screening equipment supplier Powerscreen launched three new products for the crushing and screening industry this year; the 2100 screen, the Warrior 1400XE screen and the Premiertrak 600 jaw crusher.

The Warrior 2100 screen, which was launched in June, is engineered with Powerscreen’s triple shaft technology, which has proven itself in markets worldwide. This triple shaft technology is unique to Powerscreen’s heavy-duty mobile screens and is designed so that the 16'  5' screenbox remains highly effective and efficient while maintaining exceptional throughput productivity. This level of screening acceleration offers the Warrior 2100 screen improved capabilities over its class rivals, especially in sticky scalping applications, says Powerscreen.

The Warrior 2100 also features a spaleck screen. At the core of the plant is a two-deck high-performance waste recycling screen with a flip-flow bottom deck. The flip-flow bottom deck uses rubber panels that move in a smooth wave motion, expanding and contracting to keep the material constantly in motion.

Material enters the top deck, which comprises five stepped three-dimensional screening segments formed from open surface panels. Besides preventing waste from catching in the surface and reducing downtime for clearance, this design also helps ensure that long thin pieces of material cannot pass through to the bottom layer, thereby reducing wear and tear on the bottom deck media.

The deck panels on the top and bottom deck are easily removable and can be replaced individually or simultaneously.

The single shaft screen provides the Warrior 2100 with the balance to screen efficiently in less demanding applications when the power of a triple shaft drive or the precision of a flip-flow deck is not required, explains Powerscreen, adding that the single shaft screen provides effective screening capabilities with a more conventional approach. Supported on 2 m  130 mm bearings, the single shaft screen provides an “impressive” screening stroke and screening angles of up to 18°.

The drive system is mounted directly to the screen side and is pulley driven to ensure that optimum hydraulic efficiency can be realised at both standard and increased amplitudes, making the Warrior 2100 single shaft a leader in the conventional 16'  5' class, says Powerscreen.

The Warrior 2100 range is powered by a Cat C4.4 four-cylinder diesel engine that is designed to run at 1 800 rpm, which the company notes makes it the most fuel efficient platform in its class. The machine can be ordered with a dual power option that has a fully integrated control system, allowing an end-user to power the machine with the diesel hydraulic engine or directly from a mains power source in an environmentally sensitive area.

Powerscreen enthuses that the Warrior 2100 range has unrivalled conveyor and stockpiling configurations, high-performance two-speed tracks and a user-friendly platform. The Warrior 2100 is available to order in any of the three screen variants with screenbox conversion in the field. “This kind of flexibility can be beneficial to customers in the rental industry, screening contractors or those with seasonal limitations,” says the company.

New Electric Screen
Powerscreen also launched the Warrior 1400XE electric screen in February, which has been designed to meet the needs of customers for which electricity is a preferred power source, and also opening up the possibility of running the machine indoors.

The Warrior 1400XE builds on the success of the standard Warrior 1400X model with its single-shaft, high-amplitude 3.6 m  1.25 m screenbox and the chassis riser option provides substantially improved stockpiling capacity. It also has several service and maintenance features, including the Powerscreen stay-clean system, located under the feeder, and a jack-up screen system which allows easy access for screen media changes. Depending on feed material, the output capacity can reach up to 500 t/h.

“The electrically driven Warrior 1400XE shows our response to customer demand and our commitment to embracing a more environmentally aware approach to innovation. This latest development uses a combination of highly efficient electrical components and clever design to deliver the lowest possible cost for every ton of material processed through the machine. While we are excited about the low running costs, we are proud to have produced a machine where customers will also quickly see dramatic savings in the costs associated with maintenance and servicing. Versatility has definitely not been compromised,” says Powerscreen product manager Oliver Donnelly.

The main benefit of the Warrior 1400XE is the variety of power options available. It can be self-powered with its own 72 kVA generator, or may be connected to the main electricity supply for even further reductions in cost of ownership. For customers who understand the advantages of a packaged solution, the Warrior 1400XE can also be powered from an electric drive crusher with a negligible effect on the crusher fuel consumption. This has the added benefit of eliminating the engine maintenance on the Warrior. Similarly, when operating in a high altitude or in high ambient temperatures, the Warrior 1400XE can be powered as part of a machine train from a single generator, which can be oversized to handle any derating caused by the operating environment.

The Warrior 1400XE is more suited to running indoors than a conventional diesel-hydraulic machine and the extremely low noise levels it emits will also be advantageous in many circumstances.

Premiertrak 600 Jaw Crusher
Along with the Warrior 1400XE, Powerscreen launched its Premiertrak 600, a high-performance primary jaw crushing plant that is easy to set up, versatile and engineered for quarrying, demolition and mining applications that require high production capabilities.

At the heart of the Premiertrak 600 is a 1 200 mm  820 mm modern jaw chamber, incorporating a robust construction with many user-friendly features, such as a fully hydraulic closed side settings range of 75 mm to 200 mm and a reversing system to clear blockages quickly for increased uptime. The aggressive stroke and high-inertia flywheels ensure high production rates and excellent reduction ratios.

The machine can produce up to 600 t/h and has a proven record of excellent performance in crushing some of the hardest rock in the world with ease in Finland, Sweden and Germany, Powerscreen asserts.

The diesel-hydraulic and diesel-electric variants of the Premiertrak 600 have been designed and constructed to deliver maximum production and performance, with increased uptime and low running costs. The high-capacity jaw is fed by a vibrating grizzly feeder with variable speed control and a large grizzly area to improve the removal of fine material, enabling maximum wear life of jaw plates within the crusher chamber. The bypass chute is also fitted standard with wear-resistant liners as standard and incorporates an adjustable five-position deflector plate to divert material to either the product or side conveyors.

Powerscreen is an original-equipment manufacturer offering machines that cover materials processing requirements in terms of mining equipment, quarrying equipment and crushing and screening machines for the mining, quarrying, demolition and recycling industries. Powerscreen has developed a global network of more than 120 dealers, selling over 50 product lines across the world, including in South Africa.
