PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Uranium developer Vimy Resources has had its environmental management plans for its Mulga Rock project, in Western Australia, approved.

“We are very pleased to have achieved approval for all the condition environmental management plans (CEMPs), a significant milestone for Vimy and the development of the Mulga Rock project,” said CEO Mike Young.

“The environmental guidelines governing the Mulga Rock project are world-class and, in my opinion, Western Australia is a leader in global environmental stewardship. As the uranium market continues to improve, we look forward to progressing the Mulga Rock project to provide Western Australia with further jobs, and the world with clean energy.”

A recently updated definitive feasibility study on the Mulga Rock project reduced the expected capital cost to $255-million, with the project expected to produce 3.4-million pounds of uranium a year, over a mine life of 15 years.
