Name: Mt Rawdon mine.

Location: The Mt Rawdon mine is located 75 km south-west of Bundaberg, in Queensland, Australia.

Mine Owner/s: Evolution Mining.

Brief Description: The Mt Rawdon mine is an openpit operation, which uses conventional drill-and-blast, load-and-haul methodologies, mining 10 m to 15 m benches.

The current life-of-mine plan extends to 2027.

Brief History: The Mt Rawson mine started producing its first gold in 2001.

Evolution has owned and operated Mt Rawdon since November 2011 and the mine has been owner-operated since 2014.

Primary Metals/Minerals: Gold.

Secondary Metals/Minerals: Silver.

Geology/Mineralisation: The Mt Rawdon gold deposit is a massive intrusive-related low-grade gold deposit, which exhibits excellent characteristics conducive to low-cost mining and treatment.

Alluvial gold was first discovered on the hill flanks in 1946, leading to early mining endeavours; however, the gold grade was too low to be profitable in those times.

The gold mineralisation is closely associated with fine disseminated pyrite and base metal sulphides, as well as with irregular discrete veinlets within the igneous host rocks.

However, the gold grade is statistically independent of the sulphide percentage of the host. The host rocks are predominantly rhyodacitic intrusives, breccias and a related volcaniclastic pile, with the orebody dipping moderately to the south-west.

Reserves: Total ore reserves as at December 2019, were estimated at 24.65-million tonnes grading at 0.68 g/t gold.

Resources: Total minerals resources as at December 2019, were estimated at 56.23-million tonnes grading 0.59 g/t gold.

Mining Method: Drill, blast, load and haul.

Major Infrastructure and Equipment: The Mt Rawdon mine includes a processing plant comprising primary and secondary crushing, semiautogenous grinding and ball milling, followed by conventional cyanidation leaching.

Gold feed is recovered through a gravity circuit before the flotation circuit to produce dorē gold bars, which are sold to the ABC Refinery, in Sydney.

The mine includes haulage and mine trucks; shovels, excavators and loaders; dozers; and drilling and explosives equipment.

Prospects: Evolution continues to focus on the transformation and effectiveness of its business, with its innovation pipeline delivering several projects into operating phase, including the teleremote drilling at Mt Rawdon.
