The Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU) has advised of a fatality at Impala Platinum’s Marula mine, in Limpopo, following a fall-of-ground incident on May 13.

The union reports that the mineworker was busy in the panel in the early hours of the morning when the fall of ground occurred.

This brings the national mining industry fatality rate for the year-to-date to 22, seven of which were the result of fall-of-ground incidences.
