The Minerals Council South Africa has added Merafe Resources CEO Zanele Matlala as a VP.

This was announced at the council’s annual general meeting, on Wednesday, during which it was confirmed that Anglo American South Africa executive head Andile Sangqu and Royal Bafokeng Platinum CEO Steve Phiri and Sibanye-Stillwater CEO Neal Froneman would retain their positions as VPs.

Exxaro Resources CEO Mxolisi Mgojo was also re-elected as the council’s president.

Anglo American South Africa deputy chairperson Norman Mbazima will be retiring from the council’s board when he retires from Anglo American in June, while Gold Fields CEO Nick Holland, a long-standing board member, will be succeeded by Gold Fields executive VP Martin Preece as a member of the board.

Minerals Council CEO Roger Baxter offered his sincerest gratitude to the office bearers and board members that have “given so much of their time to help guide the Minerals Council in its activities during the year”.
