Lundin Mining announces two technical leadership additions
Canadian base metals miner Lundin Mining has announced the appointments of Patrick Boitumelo as senior VP technical services and growth and Arman Barha as VP technical services, with effect from February 1.
Boitumelo will be assuming overall responsibility for Lundin’s technical services, exploration and projects team, reporting directly to CEO Peter Rockandel.
Boitumelo is joining Lundin from Vale Canada, where he was the North Atlantic head of mining and milling for base metals, prior to which he was global head of technology and innovation.
He brings more than 20 years of experience in senior technical and management roles. Prior to Vale, Boitumelo held a number of roles with Rio Tinto, including president and COO of Diavik Diamond Mines, and a GM role at Rio Tinto Kennecott.
He holds an Honours Bachelor of Engineering in Mineral Processing from the University of Leeds and a Master of Business Leadership from the University of South Africa.
Barha is joining the company from BHP, where he was the VP for resource planning and development for Minera Escondida, in Chile. Barha has more than 20 years of experience in progressively senior technical positions with BHP in Chile and globally, including technical services, business development and engineering roles.
He holds an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Mining and Mineral Process Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of British Columbia.
