Lucapa sells more Lulo diamonds
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Lucapa Diamonds has sold its sixth parcel of diamonds from the Lulo mine, in Angola, for A$5.1-million.
The 1 621 ct parcel achieved an average sales price of A$3 132/ct, despite softening conditions in the international diamond market, the miner said on Tuesday.
To date, Lucapa has generated some A$15.8-million in sale proceeds from the sale of six parcels, weighing a combined 8 037 ct.
“The premium average prices we are achieving for our diamonds significantly enhance the value and planned returns for every cubic meter of alluvial gravel we mine at Lulo,” said CEO Stephen Wetherall.
“We are continuing to recover large special diamonds from Mining Block 8 and expect to conclude one or possibly more diamond sales in 2015.”
Lucapa recently confirmed the discovery of kimberlite next to its alluvial diamond field at Lulo.
