PERTH (miningweekly.com) – ASX-listed Terramin Australia has produced 10 933 t of zinc during the final quarter of operations at its Angas zinc mine, which it closed on October 2.

The mine, which is located in South Australia, produced 94 433 t of ore during the quarter, which was 3% lower than the June quarter, and treated 98 110 t of ore, which was also slightly lower than the volume of ore treated in the prior quarter, owing to unplanned downtime of the plant.

Mining and processing activities at Angas ceased on October 2, following the extraction of all economic ore at current metal prices, and Terramin said on Monday that the mine closure was proceeding to plan.

The company was currently considering a number of options for the mine site, the plant and the associated equipment.

Terramin recently acquired the Bird-in-Hand gold project, also in South Australia, and it was anticipated that ore from this project would be processed using the facilities at Angas, which could be modified to process gold material.

The project has a resource of 598 000 t, at 12.3 g/t gold for 237 000 oz.
