Kropz to present Elandsfontein water-use licence case
The Water Tribunal has given Aim-listed phosphate explorer and developer Kropz three days, starting on September 3, to present its case in an appeal against the integrated water-use licence (WUL) for its Elandsfontein mine on South Africa's West Coast.
The miner’s Elandsfontein WUL came into question following claims by activists that it was issued improperly.
Kropz, however, believes the granting of the WUL was above board.
The WUL plays a critical part in the development of the Elandsfontein operation.
The tribunal will be resumed following a postponement, ordered by the chairperson as a result of Covid-19 concerns.
Kropz therefore advises that, to enable the tribunal the appropriate opportunity to fully review the matter, it will not be providing further comment on the official proceedings until the tribunal has announced its decision. The timing of the decision is currently unknown.
Pending the tribunal's decision, the company notes that there is no legal impediment to the continuation of the water-use activities authorised in the WUL.
