KPMG Mining Executive Forum

2nd September 2015

KPMG in South Africa is hosting the inaugural Mining Executive Forum on African soil on 9 and 10 September 2015. This two-day event provides mining executives with opportunities to network with peers and participate in industry-leader driven interactive and informative sessions. Following ten successful KPMG Mining Executive Forums held in Canada, it is against the background of increasing investor focus on Africa that the inaugural Africa version of the forum will be held in Johannesburg.

As investors increasingly look at the quality and depth of management expertise as their number one investment decision-making criterion, CEOs, CFOs, Directors and Management face continuing questions from their shareholders and their boards. By framing the Forum around these tough questions, we support the ongoing and constructive dialogue in the mining sector and believe that the sessions will raise thought provoking questions about whether your company is truly positioned to be Fit for Future.

We invite you to learn, engage and enjoy in this first for Africa opportunity.

Why you should attend:

  • The theme of the forum is designed to create thought provoking discussions around what impacts the business of the future, something that should drive modern boards’ strategic decision making;
  • Speakers are chosen for their substance, not for their title, including some you wouldn’t expect to see in a C-level discussion, but from whom we can all learn a lot;
  • Day 2’s strategic session will be observed under strict Chatham House rules - no media is invited and the discussions are not recorded.
  • We may personally reach out to each participant and find out if they would like a car service later.

The Forum’s theme is: Fit For Future with discussions using a “mining lens” to consider current key challenges facing the industry. Participation in the Mining Executive Forum is flexible and participants can attend either one or both of the thought provoking days.

Suggested participants:
Chief Financial Officer, Audit Committee Chairmen, Chief Operating Officer, VP Finance, VP Environmental, Chief Financial Officer, Chairmen of the Board, Board members

Current guest speakers include:
Lord Michael Hastings (KPMG's Global Head of Citizenship and Diversity), Jimmy Daboo(Partner, Head of Global Mining), Brian Dames (Former CEO of Eskom Holdings Limited), Paul Verryn (Ordained minister of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa).

As part of KPMG’s commitment to doing business with purpose, a portion of the registration fee will be invested in our Corporate Citizenship Programmes in South Africa helping us make a lasting difference in underprivileged communities and supporting the theme Fit for Future.
