PERTH (miningweekly.com) – An upgrade of the Maldon gold processing plant, in Victoria, is expected to deliver a 20% increase in throughput rates as well as gold recovery improvements, junior Kaiser Reef said.

The ASX-listed company told shareholders that the first part of an upgrade, modernisation and maintenance programme at the Maldon processing plant had been completed on schedule and within budget.

Kaiser Reef noted that a reduction in unit costs, through lower power consumption and more efficient operations, was also expected, which would have a significant impact on reducing operating costs.

With the recently increased hopper volume and improved design, Kaiser Reef was already achieving unprecedented stability in the circuit. This was expected to result in increased tonnage rates and reduced operating costs, the company said.

Processing operations at Maldon have now resumed and the plant is operating at full capacity.

The company is planning further improvement initiatives, and Phase 2 is planned to include the replacement of the classification circuit with more efficient equipment. The work is currently scheduled for July/August.

Additional work programmes to further increase plant efficiency will also be scheduled for the remainder of the 2023 financial year.
