Brand South Africa is hosting a webinar titled South African Mining Investment Forum on Wednesday, 30 March at 14:00 to highlight South Africa’s potential as a mining investment destination and to identify areas where progress must be made to promote increased mining investment. This webinar is hosted in partnership with Creamer Media’s Mining Weekly.

South Africa’s official marketing and reputation management agency, Brand South Africa, has been mandated to build the country's Nation Brand reputation, in an effort to improve its global competitiveness. It aims to build pride and patriotism among South Africans, in order to contribute to social cohesion and nation building.

During the webinar, thought leaders from the private and public sectors will come together to discuss investment opportunities in South Africa’s mining industry.

Award winning financial journalist Bruce Whitfield will facilitate the discussion. The webinar will focus on main issues affecting the mining sector in South Africa, including its impact on the economy and job creation, the pledges made by the mining industry at the recent South African Investment Conference, as well as how the current situation in Europe (Russia and Ukraine) has increased or created an opportunity for the South African mining sector.

“South Africa’s mining sector remains crucial for the long-term growth of the country, to promote employment, technological progress, fiscal revenue and foreign exchange earnings, defying perceptions that mining is a sunset industry in South Africa,” says Sithembile Ntombela, Acting CEO of Brand South Africa.

Whitfield will be joined by Thabiso Sekano, Head of Mining at the Industrial Development Corporation; Patrycja Kula-Vester, Business Development Manager at the Johannesbutg Stock Exchange; Fortune  Mojapelo, Chief Executive Officer at Bushveld Minerals and Vuslat Bayoglu, Co-Founder and MD at Menar.

The webinar takes place ahead of the Invest in African Mining Indaba which is scheduled to take place on 9 - 12 May 2022 and at which Brand South Africa, in collaboration with the Department of Minerals and Energy, the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition and other stakeholders, will continue to elevate the South African mining sector as a key economic contributor and enabler to the positive and competitive positioning of the South African Nation Brand as an attractive destination for investment. The theme for this year’s African Mining Indaba is Evolution of African Mining: Investing in the Energy Transition, ESG, and the Economies
