IGO confirms Bradford's passing
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Battery metals miner IGO has confirmed the sudden passing of MD and CEO Peter Bradford over the weekend.
“[Bradford] was an inspirational leader, an innovative and strategic thinker and a compassionate mentor, who transformed IGO into the company that it is today - a globally recognised, ASX100-listed company focused on creating a better planet. His passion for mining and resources, and his personal drive to raise the bar across the industry, was unparalleled,” the company said in a statement.
“[He] was passionate about climate change and the role our industry can play in the transition to a clean energy future and was equally passionate in engaging others on these important issues.’
In addition to his role at IGO, Bradford championed the mining industry in Western Australia, was the president of Association of Mineral and Exploration Companies, an active mentor for Women in Mining WA, and a former WA Mining Club committee member and VP.
“On behalf of the board, I wish to extend our sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Bradford’s wife Vicki and his children and everyone who was fortunate enough to know Bradford as we did. The news of his death is devastating to everyone at IGO. We greatly admired Bradford for not just his vision and commitment to delivering on our purpose but also for his endearing humility and enormous humanity,” said nonexecutive chairperson Michael Nossal.
The board has appointed Matt Dusci to the role of acting CEO, effective immediately. He will be supported by the executive leadership team and the broader IGO leadership group. Dusci will continue in this role while the board conducts a formal search process for a permanent CEO, which will consider internal and external candidates.
Dusci has over 25 years’ experience in the mining industry, and joined IGO in 2014 and was appointed COO in early 2018, having previously served as IGO’s chief growth officer.
