Distributor of Hyundai earthmoving equipment High Power Equipment (HPE) Africa successfully showcased the new McCloskey C38 recirculating cone crusher at an interactive open day hosted by crushing, screening and handling equipment company McCloskey International at a quarrying site in Gauteng last month.

HPE Africa was named the sole Southern African distributor for McCloskey International in January and has since sold 12 McCloskey machines to the local quarrying industry, including cone crushers, vibrating screens and jaw crushers.

HPE Africa McCloskey sales manager Alan Straw points out that the McCloskey C38 recirculating cone crusher was selected as the display model of choice, owing to its durability and adaptability to the harsh African climate and terrain.

“The C38 recirculating cone crusher combines the productivity of a 38 inch cone with the versatility of a full screening and recirculating system, thereby allowing operators to produce a crushed and screened final product with one single machine.”

Straw says the McCloskey C38 recirculating cone crusher was well received by guests during the demonstration because it displayed its capabilities as the ideal portable secondary crushing solu- tion for operators requiring production rates of up to 300 t/h.

“The McCloskey C38 recirculating cone crusher is an entry-level cone with high-spec features, including an antispin system, load and material level monitoring, a fully hydraulic push button and a fully hydraulic relief system.”

According to Straw, the McCloskey International range is well suited to the African market because it is user friendly and rugged.

“McCloskey International was established in Canada, where machines are expected to withstand extreme temperatures in vastly remote areas. As a result, they have been designed to be reliable, operator friendly and easy to maintain. These are the features that African-based operations will be looking for in their machinery.”

Although the McCloskey International range has been available to the local market through HPE Africa only for a few months, Straw says the future outlook for both companies is positive. “In addition to the C38 recirculating cone crusher, HPE Africa has imported several feed screens, hopper feed screens and jaw crushers for customers nationwide and in Africa.”

Straw adds that HPE Africa has received enquiries from existing and potential customers regarding the McCloskey International range of equipment.
