Hastings to start drilling at Yangibana project

Rare earths explorer and developer Hastings Technology Metals has engaged a drilling contractor for the 2020 Yangibana exploration programme.

The priority focus of the programme is to test a series of highly prospective extensional targets within the Yangibana project, in Western Australia, with the intention of increasing the existing 21.2-million-tonne Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource and extending planned mine life.

According to COO Andrew Reid, the aim of the reverse circulation diamond drilling is to target the immediate extensions to the Bald Hill-Simons Find-Frasers and Auer trends, which are the closest deposits to the permitted processing plant.

“This drilling is designed to initiate systematic testing of large strike extensions of the prospective iron stones that have never previously been tested.”

Drilling is scheduled to start this weekend and will run until October 2020.

Site preparation and mobilisation of the drilling rig, consumables, field staff and equipment are under way.
