GE Monitoring Systems, or GEMS, is a geo-technical and civil instrument supply and installation company, offering the latest telemetry options for easy data collection. 

Founded in 2014, GEMS staff has over 50 years of combined experience. The company provides high-quality testing, installation and monitoring expertise to the mining, civil engineering and geotechnical sectors. 

Services include multi-level vibrating wire piezometer installations to a depth of 1 000 m, hydraulic packer testing to depths of 1 000 m and the setup of telemetry networks for monitoring a wide variety of instrumentation. 

GEMS supplies the following instrumentation and testing equipment: 

  • Telemetry 
  • Piezometers for water level or pore pressure monitoring, including standpipe, vibrating wire and multi-level installations 
  • Conventional, wireline and hydraulic packers for testing hydraulic conductivity in rock mass 
  • Strain gauges 
  • Load cells and stress meters 
  • Crack and convergence meters for monitoring surface and underground crack development
  • Inclinometers, tiltmeters and extensometers to measure rock mass movement
  • Pressure meters and stress gauges 
  • Point load testing machines for manual or auto-mated testing and data recording 

GEMS works across Africa and the Middle East to provide testing, installation and supervision of all its products.
