Exploration acreage released in S Australia
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – The South Australian Minister for Energy and Mining Tom Koutsantonis on Friday announced that the Quondong Vale region will open to competitive tenement applications under the state government’s Exploration Release Area.
The release follows the completion of a drilling programme by the Geological Survey of South Australia (GSSA) and MinEx CRC in the area.
The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (Amec) has welcomed the release, with CEO Warren Pearce saying that mineral exploration was the lifeblood of South Australia’s mining sector.
“The innovation, collaboration and excellence we’ve seen on display today at the South Australian Exploration and Mining Conference, and yesterday at GSSA Discovery Day, are a strong sign that South Australia’s minerals sector is well and truly open for investment.”
“Across South Australia we continue to see increased demand for mineral exploration tenure, on the back of recent successful discoveries, strong commodity prices, leading-edge precompetitive data, and consistently evolving technological advancements,” said Pearce.
“As we progress towards decarbonisation targets, more mineral exploration and more mining is needed to deliver the minerals of the future. The release of tenure for competitive access can unlock untapped mineral value as South Australia continues to diversify its economic offerings.
“Amec welcomes the continued support of the South Australian government, to encourage future mineral discoveries that will deliver long-term, wide-ranging social and economic benefits for local communities, and the state,” said Pearce.
