German engineers Getriebebau Nord now offer the MAXXDRIVE industrial gear unit, a powerful drive system characterised by “maximum reliability, safety and robustness”, for the transportation of bulk materials using conveyor systems.

MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units are suitable for installation on belt conveyors used in the continuous transport of materials in industries such as mining, mechanical engineering or plastic and paper recycling.

For large belt conveyors with a high capacity, the longevity and low-maintenance MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units, with two-stage helical bevel gear units, are particularly suitable.

They can be combined with a foot-mounted, high efficiency International Efficiency 3 motor on a motor swing base or a frame and are connected to the motor using a hydraulic coupling. The rubber or plastic conveyor belt is redirected through at least two drums, unlike conventional systems where one drum is motorised and moves the belt through friction.

The helical-bevel gear version of the MAXXDRIVE industrial gear unit is manufactured according to the proven Unicase principle and is available in all sizes. The Nord Unicase principal allows the shaft axels to be staggered, resulting in a more compact design which allows the use of larger roller bearings to guarantee a longer operating life.

Thereafter various sealing options enable the industrial gear units to be adapted to a wide range of ambient conditions. Flexible temperature management also enables use in highly fluctuating ambient conditions and extends lubricant life.

Large roller bearings and centre distances increase the load capacity and service life of the components.

Nord also notes its short planning and delivery times, which is possible owing to the extensive knowledge of its experts about the specific requirements for every application, as well as optimised stocking of components.

MAXXDRIVE industrial gear unit’s boast characteristics such as optimal sealing, which enables long deployment times without leakage. Other features include low noise emission, effective fan cooling and high torque capacities. Further, mirror-image and inclined installations are two of the six possible installation positions available.

MAXXDRIVE industrial gear unit’s can be used in applications such as conveyor belt systems, mixers, agitators, extruders, drums, mills and lifts among others.

Moreover, the practical maintenance package from Nord – a combination of protective measures and monitoring systems – ensures that the investment functions despite harsh conditions such as continuous operation, dust and the effects of weather.

Nord drive systems are designed by Getriebebau Nord and assembled locally by engineering components supplier Bearing Man Group.
