Decmil makes space in lithium market
PERTH (miningweekly.com) – Contractor Decmil Group has been awarded two separate lithium contracts worth a combined A$34-million.
The ASX-listed company on Friday announced that it had been awarded a contract with Covalent Lithium for the design and construction of non-process infrastructure buildings for Covalent’s Mt Holland lithium project, in Western Australia.
The contract, scheduled to start this month, includes the construction of an administration building, laboratory, workshop, warehouse, central control room, refuelling facility, wastewater treatment and associated utilities and civil works at Covalent Lithium’s Kwinana refinery.
The contract is set be completed in the first half of 2023.
Decmil has also been awarded a contract with Talison Lithium to construct a technical services building at its Greenbushes lithium operations, in Western Australia.
The contract is to provide new maintenance and office facilities to support Talison’s expanded mining operations and is scheduled to commence this month and complete in the first half of 2023. It includes the construction of office facilities and a fleet mine control room for truck haulage optimisation.
“Decmil has a proven track record of successfully delivering non-process infrastructure and building construction contracts in regional areas, and securing these contracts is a reflection of our expertise in this area,” Decmil CEO Dickie Dique said.

Lithium plays a crucial role in the manufacture of lithium batteries which are so integral to the decarbonisation of the global economy, and Decmil is well-positioned to support Australia’s lithium producers.”
