We mourn Madiba’s passing.  As inevitable as it was, it has shaken the ground on which we walk.  For us and indeed for many millions around the world this is the time of deep reflection and sorrow, as we ponder a world and life without him.

However, beyond our collective pain we must be inspired to celebrate his life and deeds by emulating his legacy and belief in the oneness of humanity and working for peace and reconciliation.

Madiba has, through his humility, touched millions of lives unambiguously those who were less fortunate. He had in his heart, a special place for the poor, the vulnerable and the children which is evident through his countless deeds of goodwill for their wellbeing.  He truly was the embodiment of peace, freedom and justice.  We will always honour his beliefs for the people of South Africa, the Continent and the World.

We, in the DBSA, shall remain inspired by his life lived as a development activist.
