Adhesives technology company Henkel South Africa hosted its first conference – Repair and Protect Your Mine with Loctite Conference and Exhibition – to showcase ways in which its products could be used in the mining industry to maintain, repair, protect and prolong the life span of equipment.

The conference was held at Emperors Palace, on the East Rand, in September.

Henkel is the manufacturer of adhesive products under of Loctite brand.

Considering that the mining environment is generally regarded as one of the harshest industrial working environments, Loctite places emphasis on how its products are designed to meet the requirements of mining applications through its offering of industrial sealants and adhesives.

In addition to showcasing new product innovations, the ways in which other products could be used to either prevent unplanned downtime or shorten the downtime needed to repair machinery, the extension of equipment life span, and energy efficient product solutions were also showcased.

Various Loctite product offerings were displayed during several seminars and at exhibition stands, providing delegates with the opportunity to engage face to face with Henkel general industries technical experts.

Loctite produces a range of polymer composites, many of which are new to the industry and which were showcased at the event. These protective coatings offer numerous benefits, including mitigating unplanned maintenance and downtime on critical assets such as crushers, and ball and semiautogenous grinding mills, as well as hydrocyclones. Less downtime, in turn, increases process uptime and cost effectiveness.

Henkel South Africa general industries business unit manager Uhtred Eorwine says the company is committed to providing innovative, reliable and high-quality solutions for customers. “This event was a first for general industries in South Africa and we are looking forward to doing more of these conferences to showcase our range of innovative solutions.”

Included in the line-up of product offerings was a range of next-generation universal structural adhesives that have been patented with Henkel’s new Loctite Hybrid Adhesives – a hybrid technology that allows for a blend of structural and instant adhesives, combining speed, durability and versatility.
