Fluid transfer solutions and on-site repairs provider Pirtek Northern Cape has introduced the first dedicated Pirtek mining service vehicle onto the South African market.

The new vehicle complements the current fleet of Pirtek mobile service vehicles in the Northern Cape operating from Kathu, Postmasburg and Upington. Pirtek currently has over 65 mobile service vehicles operating nationally.

The new mining-dedicated vehicle was fabricated by truck service and repair company TFM, in Johannesburg, to Pirtek design standards, and is designed to service all medium and large-size mining machinery.

The vehicle enables replacement assemblies to be carried out on site next to the mining machine when a hose failure occurs, which reduces downtime on large mining machinery.

The Pirtek mining service vehicle will operate 24/7 in the Northern Cape region.

The features of the vehicle include a 2", six-wire crimper, hydraulic hose cutoff saw, 40 V drop saw, hose cleaning kit, high-density storage system and specialty tools.

After-hours emergency requirements can be communicated to Pirtek’s service and supply centres by phoning a business hours phone number.

Pirtek has a network of 24 service centres and a fleet of more than 70 mobile workshops across South Africa. The company’s mobile sales and service units are designed as workshops and equipped with a crimping press and cutoff saw, and are capable of manufacturing hydraulic hose assemblies on-site.

All Pirtek’s mobile service units carry up to 1.1/4" bore high-pressure hoses with a wide range of hose fittings and adaptors. Certain mobile service vehicles are equipped to manufacture 2" assemblies on site.

Pirtek Southern Africa is part of the global Pirtek Network. In 1999, Pirtek entered the South African market and has grown to become a major provider of fluid transfer solutions and on-site repairs.

Besides South Africa, Pirtek Southern Africa has service centres and on-site teams working in Namibia, Zambia, Kenya and Tanzania.

Pirtek offers fluid transfer solutions, products and services to industries including mining and quarrying, manufacturing, materials handling, agriculture, transport and logistics, utilities, rail, construction and plant hire, marine, environmental services and defence.
