This chrome-processing plant, 50 km outside Kwekwe, in Zimbabwe, requires no electricity to increase the economic value of the country’s chromite endowment by producing an ultra-low-carbon high-grade product used in stainless steel. With global demand for stainless steel growing steadily, hopes are rising that the country’s chromite will make an increasing contribution to the economy of this Southern African country.
