TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Canada Lithium on Monday announced that it had for the first time achieved continuous lithium carbonate production, as commissioning proceeded through the latter stages at the company's openpit mine and processing plant near Val d'Or, Quebec.

Despite the TSX-listed company having previously achieved batch-style output, all circuits in the process plant, from the crusher through to the final bagging station for lithium carbonate, were now operating on a continuous basis.

Day-shift mining operations, temporarily suspended in July, had been restarted in order to rebuild the depleted ore stockpile over the past quarter.

The crushing, grinding, concentrator and kiln circuits were operational and would be sequentially stepped-up to their design capacity over the coming months.

Commissioning of the hydrometallurgical circuit continued according to the revised timetable, and lithium carbonate product was being packaged on-site.

Canada Lithium expected to start product shipments to offtake partner Tewoo, in China, in the coming weeks.

The company’s TSX-listed stock rose as high as C$0.475 in early trading, but by early on Monday afternoon, was trading at C$0.445 apiece.
