TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Abnormally heavy rainfall and the melting of the remaining snowpack have caused water levels in the holding facility and water management facilities at gold producer Brigus Gold’s Black Fox mill to be higher than recommended, forcing the company to temporarily suspend milling operations.

Brigus temporarily suspended the Timmins gold district-based milling operations on May 12 and, since then, has been actively treating and reducing water levels in the holding facility and water management facilities.

Milling operations would resume once water levels had been normalised.

Brigus said the underground and openpit mining operations were not affected and that the company was stockpiling ore to be processed once milling operations resumed.
