Although the mining market is in a downturn, global supplier of tech-nologies and services Bosch key account manager mining Africa region Landry Meya is optimistic about the future of mining in Africa, as he claims the industry is preparing itself to make the most of future upturns.

Ghana is but one of the African countries that Bosch is targeting for further expansion of its mining and industrial solutions.

The company

, which opened a new office branch in Accra, Ghana, on November 11, 2015, will focus on 24 of Africa’s 54 States, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, South Africa and Namibia.

“With positive economic development underpinned by a wealth of raw materials and by an increasingly well-educated workforce and growing middle class, Bosch sees great potential for its business in Africa. “The growing infrastructure and industry also offer good opportunities for the mining sector,” explains Meya.

Bosch emphasises that its brand is renowned internationally and it is looking to increase that brand presence in Africa through its mining activities.

He notes that Bosch’s expertise in supplying, installing and maintaining safer, more environ-ment-friendly equipment that results in reduced costs and sustainable solutions will ensure successful partnerships with mining companies in Africa.

Meya further claims that Bosch’s products are well-aligned to help many mining companies operat-ing on the continent contain costs by making their production more energy efficient, as well as improve safety measures at their operations.

Bosch offers drive systems for conveyor belts, apron feeders and diagnostic equipment components, as well as t

urnkey stationary energy storage solutions that ensure lower costs and a more reliable power supply, which may be of particular use to mines in Ghana that are looking for alternative options during load-shedding periods.
