All the clean energy ducks are in a neat row

The world’s clean, green journey is on a competitive path. New project for new project, renewable energy is beating fossil fuel and nuclear alternatives on price and common good.

At the same time, sun and wind energy brings with it the potential for the production of green hydrogen. This oil-like green hydrogen can be stored for the short to long term and do everything that petrol, diesel and coal do currently. News of hydrogen fuel cell progress is emerging daily from Europe, Japan and even South Africa.

Anglo American is progressing well with its hydrogen haul truck project in Limpopo. Sibanye-Stillwater is sponsoring a hydrogen pow-pow in Tokyo, where the Olympic Games are being dubbed the Hydrogen Olympics.

The world’s biggest companies are crowding out the Hydrogen Council and South Africa remains well placed to use its Northern Cape sun to produce hydrogen from seawater at the Port of Coega. This can help to meet export demand and provide desalinated water at negligible cost to the water-short Eastern Cape.
