Sister companies Integrated Pump Technology and Integrated Pump Rental believe that, while their market offerings differ, it is their philosophy of providing single-source pump solutions to customers in the mining industry that has led to the significant growth of both in the past four years.
“When you look at our integrated pump solutions approach, where we offer sales as well as rental options, it becomes obvious that we are able to cater to specific customer requirements and this includes meeting all performance specifications whether it is a slurry pumping, dewatering or even a tailings or water retreatment application,” Integrated Pump Technology MD Colin Adams says.
He mentions that, as part of both companies’ multifaceted offerings, competent and experienced personnel are sent to the customer’s operation to evaluate, assess and then recommend the solution that is best suited to the application.
“It is critical that the product being supplied can handle the tough operating conditions in Africa, and this applies particularly to those mine and other sites in remote areas in Africa where our products are installed.”
Adams points out that another major advantage is both companies’ full service offering which includes not just the supply of a pump, but also installation of the pump and associated accessories including hosing, flotation devices and control panels. Both companies also provide support including maintenance contracts with skilled artisans performing this work. This, he says, ensures optimum performance of a pump installation.
The legacy and reputation for reliable performance that the Grindex industrial pumps range and the Sykes pumps range have developed over the years internationally and locally plays a significant role in Integrated Pump Rental offering these brands to customers, notes company MD Lee Vine.
Sister company, Integrated Pump Technology is the South African distributor for the full range of Grindex pumps, while Integrated Pump Rental holds the distributorship for Sykes dewatering pumps.
Some of the pumps that both companies offer include Grindex drainage, slurry and sludge pumps as well as the Sykes ranges of diesel-driven dewatering pumps.
Moreover, as part of the standard pumps ranges, the companies supply customised pumping systems that meet specific application requirements. These include the SlurrySucker dredging and hydro mining systems and Inox stainless steel pumps.
Meanwhile, Adams notes that, while there is only a glimmer of a turnaround in the mining sector, the companies have maintained steady growth as customers turn to quality original-equipment manufacturer products as these offer far lower owning and operating costs, and this, he says, is a key driver within not only the mining sector but also in other markets.
