Gold miners Goldcorp and Newmont have successfully closed their $10-billion merger, creating the world’s largest gold mining business with operations in the Americas, Africa and Australia.

Newmont Goldcorp will continue trading on the NYSE with the ticker ‘NEM’ and will begin trading on the TSX with the ticker ‘NGT’.

Goldcorp will delist from the NYSE on April 18, and from the TSX on April 22.

Newmont Goldcorp will produce between six-million and seven-million ounces a year of gold, dethroning Barrick as the world’s biggest producer. Barrick, which recently merged with Randgold Resources, is forecast to produce of about 5.1-million to 5.6-million ounces this year.
