TORONTO (miningweekly.com) – Underground operations at B2Gold's Limon mine remain suspended after a miner was killed when heavy rains caused flooding at the mine last week.
The mine was evacuated on June 18, and 25 of the 26 workers were safely evacuated. However, the last miner remained unaccounted for.
The underground operations will remain suspended during the accident investigation and rehabilitation of the mine, B2Gold said.
The Limon mill will continue processing ore from stockpiles, and production schedules will be adjusted to include other sources of openpit ore during the suspension of underground mining.
B2Gold also operates the La Libertad mine in Nicaragua.
