Northam Platinum

Northam Platinum is a South African mining company focused on the extraction and processing of platinum-group metals (PGMs). The company operates several mines in South Africa's Bushveld Complex, one of the world's richest sources of platinum, palladium, rhodium and other PGMs. Northam is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and has grown to become one of the country's leading platinum producers. Its operations include the Zondereinde mine in Limpopo, the Booysendal mine in Mpumalanga and the Eland mine, also in Limpopo. The company produces a basket of PGMs that are used in automotive catalytic converters, jewellery, industrial applications and emerging technologies such as hydrogen fuel cells. Northam has pursued an expansion strategy through organic growth and acquisitions, increasing its production capacity and resource base. The company employs several thousand people across its mining and processing operations. Revenue and profitability are closely tied to global PGM prices, which fluctuate based on automotive demand, industrial consumption and investment flows. Northam was established in the 1990s and has since consolidated its position as a significant player in South Africa's platinum industry.
