Gina Rinehart

Gina Rinehart is an Australian mining magnate and the executive chairperson of Hancock Prospecting, a privately owned mineral exploration and extraction company. She is the daughter of Lang Hancock, who founded the company and discovered vast iron-ore deposits in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Rinehart inherited control of Hancock Prospecting in 1992 and has since expanded the business significantly, transforming it into one of Australia's largest private companies. Her wealth is primarily derived from iron-ore mining operations, including the Roy Hill mine in Western Australia, which she developed and brought into production in 2015. Rinehart is consistently ranked as Australia's wealthiest person and one of the richest women in the world. Beyond mining, she has diversified her investments into agriculture, media and property. She has been a vocal advocate for the Australian resources sector, frequently commenting on regulatory and taxation issues affecting the industry. Rinehart's business career has been marked by both commercial success and high-profile legal disputes, including protracted litigation with family members over control of the family trust. Her influence extends beyond business into public policy debates, particularly concerning mining taxation, labour costs and environmental regulation.
