Fortescue

Fortescue is an Australian mining and energy company headquartered in Perth, Western Australia. The company operates as one of the world's largest iron-ore producers, with extensive mining operations in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Fortescue is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and has grown to become a major player in the global iron-ore market since its founding in 2003. The company owns and operates integrated mining, rail and port infrastructure that enables it to extract, process and export iron-ore to customers worldwide, particularly in Asia. In recent years, Fortescue has expanded its focus beyond iron-ore mining to include renewable energy and decarbonisation initiatives through its Fortescue Future Industries division. The company is pursuing investments in green hydrogen, battery storage and other clean energy technologies as part of a strategic shift towards sustainable energy production. Fortescue employs thousands of workers across its mining and energy operations and generates billions of dollars in annual revenue. The company was founded by Australian businessman Andrew Forrest, who remains a significant shareholder and influential figure in the organisation's strategic direction. Fortescue's transition towards renewable energy represents one of the mining sector's most ambitious decarbonisation programmes.
