ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil is an American multinational oil and gas corporation and one of the world's largest publicly traded energy companies. The company is headquartered in Irving, Texas, and operates across all segments of the energy industry, including exploration, production, refining, transportation and marketing of crude oil, natural gas and petroleum products. ExxonMobil maintains operations in more than 50 countries and explores for oil and gas on six continents. The corporation's core business activities include upstream exploration and production, downstream refining and chemicals manufacturing, and the development of liquefied natural gas projects. ExxonMobil holds significant market positions in global energy markets and ranks consistently among the largest companies worldwide by revenue, generating hundreds of billions of dollars annually. The company employs tens of thousands of people globally and operates major subsidiaries including Esso, Mobil and ExxonMobil Chemical. In Africa, ExxonMobil has notable interests in offshore gas developments, particularly in Mozambique's Rovuma Basin, where it operates liquefied natural gas projects. The company was formed in 1999 through the merger of Exxon and Mobil, themselves descendants of John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil, which was broken up in 1911.
