Eskay Creek

Eskay Creek is a gold and silver mine located in northwestern British Columbia, Canada. The mine sits in the traditional territory of the Tahltan Nation, approximately 70 km west of the town of Stewart. Eskay Creek is operated by Skeena Resources and represents one of the highest-grade precious-metals deposits ever discovered in Canada. The orebody was originally discovered in the late 1980s and entered production in 1994 under Barrick Gold, producing gold and silver until its closure in 2008 due to resource depletion. At its peak, Eskay Creek was one of the world's highest-grade gold mines, with ore grades significantly above industry averages. Skeena Resources acquired the property in 2020 and has since undertaken exploration and development work to bring the mine back into production. The company has identified additional mineralisation and is advancing feasibility studies and permitting for a restart. Eskay Creek's strategic significance lies in its exceptional grade and its location within a prolific mining district in British Columbia. The project has attracted considerable investment interest as Skeena works towards recommissioning the operation and extending its productive life.
